										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why machine data is crucial today</strong></h2>



<p>Machine data is generated in every manufacturing process, but it often remains unutilised. Yet it harbours enormous potential for reducing downtimes, planning maintenance in a more targeted manner, making energy consumption transparent and measurably improving production processes.</p>



<p>In our joint training by Fraunhofer IEM and ELHA-MASCHINENBAU, technical employees are shown how they can recognise and exploit precisely this potential. With a practical combination of basic knowledge, real use cases and direct machine access, the two-day training course offers a unique introduction to the effective use of machine data in manufacturing companies, including the first steps in data analysis and data management.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where companies stand today in the use of machine data</strong></h2>



<p>In many manufacturing companies, extensive machine data is generated every day by sensors and control systems that continuously provide information on statuses, consumption and processes.</p>



<p>The fact that this data is not utilised is often due less to the technology than to a lack of practical experience. Although technical employees have sound manufacturing knowledge, they often lack expertise in the systematic handling of machine data. It remains unclear how data can be effectively recorded, processed and analysed. There is also often uncertainty as to which interfaces and protocols are relevant and how these are implemented. Many employees also lack concrete access to methods, tools and procedures for analysing data in production, especially when dealing with real machine data.</p>



<p>This is exactly where the training <em>Practical use of machine data</em> programme. It teaches basic methods and tools for data acquisition, data preparation, data analysis and interpretation and enables direct transfer into practice, both at the Fraunhofer IEM research campus and in the ELHA-MASCHINENBAU production environment.</p>

<p>In addition to theory, the first practical work with real data sets takes centre stage, always with a view to the requirements of manufacturing companies and the entry into industrial data analysis.</p>

<p>The training is aimed at technical employees from production, IT, electrical engineering or maintenance; previous knowledge of machine data is not required.</p>

This allows participants to directly experience how data analysis, machine-oriented work and optimisation potential interact.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On 1 January 2026, ELHA-MASCHINENBAU will change its legal form: the previous limited partnership will become a <strong>ELHA-MASCHINENBAU Liemke Limited Partnership</strong>. The background to this is a change in the group of shareholders. For our customers, partners and employees, day-to-day operations will remain unchanged – processes, contact persons and service quality will remain the same.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why the name change?</strong></h2>



<p>The new legal form offers the company one thing above all else: security for the future. The company remains firmly rooted in the region while remaining open to new markets and opportunities. </p>



<p>Managing Director Hans-Georg Liemke describes the move as follows:</p>

The name change underlines that ELHA remains a reliable partner for precision, innovation and quality in mechanical engineering.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Focus on technologies at the EMO in Hanover</h2>



<p>This year, our trade fair presence centred on machine concepts that do not come from a standard modular system, but are developed specifically from the requirements of individual components. Our systems fit seamlessly into existing processes, whether series production or customised solutions. This is precisely what makes the difference and was one of the key points of discussion at EMO Hannover 2025.</p>



<p>We presented selected exhibits at various stations: the production module, our vertical turning/milling centres (VTM &amp; VTG), the parallel kinematics module (PKM) and workpieces that we have already machined on our ELHA machines in the past. </p>



<p>Another highlight was the look at the sectors in which our technologies are already being used today, from energy, infrastructure, automotive and defence to aerospace.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Parallel kinematics module (PKM)</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Technology carrier with versatile applications</h3>



<p>One of the highlights of our trade fair appearance at EMO Hannover 2025 was the parallel kinematics module. Our colleague Sven presented it in a video, live from the trade fair stand. In miniature format, it demonstrated how the gap between serial robotics and conventional machining centres can be closed.</p>



<p>The PKM serves as a technology carrier to which various systems can be connected. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Advantages for a wide range of industries</h3>



<p>Our production module can be used in many industries and impresses with its modular design. In this video, our colleague Meinolf shows what this looks like in practice using a real workpiece: a 600 mm steering housing. This shows what EMO Hannover 2025 visitors particularly appreciate: practical solutions with clear advantages.</p>



<p>The modular design enables complete machining in just one clamping position. The workpiece can be machined from up to six sides, realised by the combination of fifth axis and clamping device. The next tool is already in position while one part is being machined. This ensures maximum efficiency, high precision and short throughput times.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Vertical turn-mill centres (VTM &amp; VTG)</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Efficient machining for large, complex components</h3>



<p>Another focus of our presence at EMO Hannover 2025 was the Vertical Turn-Mill Centres (VTM &amp; VTG). This concept was specially developed for industries such as renewable energies or aerospace, where large and complex components need to be machined with the highest precision. Carina presents this in the following video.</p>



<p>Turning, milling, drilling and even grinding - the VTM/VTG combines several manufacturing processes in one machine and therefore offers maximum flexibility. This approach leads to significant productivity gains, especially for large and complex components.</p>



<p>The concept has a modular design and is suitable for a wide range of applications. In addition to slewing rings, engine components and cubic parts can also be machined efficiently. Thanks to our in-house developed, dynamic and high-precision rotary table drive (<a href="https://www.elha.de/en/machines/vertical-turning-milling-centers/elha-sdd-segment-direct-drive/">ELHA SDD</a>) in combination with a 2-axis milling head, even 5-axis machining is possible without integrating an additional linear movement of the rotary table. This principle is known as the double transmit function.</p>



<p>Thanks to complete machining in just one clamping operation, VTM technology reduces set-up times, improves dimensional accuracy and increases process reliability.</p>

<p>Gigacasting, or megacasting, has been an extremely popular technology in the automotive industry for some time now. With gigacasting, large, structural vehicle components are manufactured in one piece using aluminium die casting. This technology drastically reduces the number of individual parts, which lowers production costs and simplifies assembly processes. But how can these components be processed precisely? This is where the combination of gigacasting and parallel kinematics comes into play - for efficient and high-precision post-processing of large aluminium components.</p>



<p>Tesla is the pioneer of this production technology, but companies such as Toyota, Hyundai and Volvo are also increasingly relying on gigacasting to realise lighter vehicle structures. This advantage plays an important role in electromobility in particular, as it reduces the vehicle weight and thus increases the range.</p>

<p>While gigacasting has a number of advantages, the post-processing of these large-format aluminium parts presents a challenge. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PKM can be used in various areas</h2>



<p>Our parallel kinematics module is a modular machine that can be equipped with a wide range of end effectors. Compared to serial robots, it offers an increase of <strong>10 to 15 times higher stiffness and accuracy at the end effector</strong>. The innovative mechanical structure allows geometric variations of the base frame and therefore customisation of the working space. The PKM distributes loads to the building foundation and offers maximum flexibility during installation, as no additional foundations are required. In addition, our PKM can be used in hybrid production in various processes. </p>

<p>The ELHA team from Franz-Stock-Realschule competed with excitement and pride in the Solar Racing Cup in the Westfalen Weser car park in Herford. After several months of intensive preparation and construction, they presented their new speedster to the public.</p>



<p>The Solar Racing Cup is much more than just a race. It is about technical innovation, creative design and teamwork. An expert jury assessed every detail of the solar racers, from technical creativity and craftsmanship to visual design. The technical documentation and co-operation with partner companies also played a decisive role in the assessment.</p>

<p>The ELHA team has won the 2024 Technology Award of the Association of German Engineers VDI OWL for technical creativity and craftsmanship. Their innovative concept of vividly presenting the racer's electronics in a vertically mounted display case on the back of the driver's seat impressed the jury across the board.</p>



<p>This project was not only an opportunity for our team of students to demonstrate their technical skills, but also a valuable experience in terms of teamwork and career orientation. Under the guidance of our employees and trainees, they were not only able to realise the construction of the solar bolides, but also gained an insight into various professional activities.</p>



<p>We are proud that our team came third in the race and congratulate all participants on their achievements.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In modern industry, companies are often faced with the challenge of organising production processes efficiently while keeping an eye on the workload of their employees. We know how important it is to respond flexibly to our customers' requirements. However, we are often faced with the challenge of integrating unforeseeable events and rush orders into our production schedule, which often leads to overtime and workload peaks.</p>



<p>Together with Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, we want to improve our work planning with the help of artificial intelligence. In this transfer project, we are identifying factors and key figures that support efficient production planning and reduce the workload on employees.</p>



<p><strong><span style="mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-fareast-theme-font:major-fareast">The challenge:</span></strong> Rush orders and unforeseeable events lead to peak workloads, overtime and Saturday work in production, which employees find stressful.</p>



<p><strong><span style="mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-fareast-theme-font:major-fareast">The solution:</span></strong> An AI-supported assistance system that enables employees to plan capacity more precisely and makes production capacity utilisation transparent.</p>



<p><strong><span style="mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-fareast-theme-font:major-fareast">The added value:</span></strong> By identifying the causes of overtime, we can take appropriate countermeasures and drive forward more efficient production planning to relieve the burden on employees.</p>



<p>A central aspect of this project is the human dimension. Recording and analysing overtime and Saturday work serves to make the burden on employees transparent. At ELHA-MASCHINENBAU, we are focussing on understanding the causes of overtime and adapting the planning process accordingly. Ultimately, the project aims to increase employee satisfaction and health with the help of AI.</p>



<p>By using AI, we not only increase our efficiency, but we can also keep an eye on the well-being of our employees.</p>

<p>These and other questions were answered for the participants at our seminar on Tuesday. The lively exchange between the speaker from Weidmüller and the seminar participants continued unabated, with discussions, explanations and cable reconnections. Because that's what makes a good seminar - constant dialogue and practical exercises! In addition to theory, practical experience was also gained and knowledge was expanded and deepened.</p>

<p>In the seminar, participants learnt how to configure the various components to suit their own application in order to achieve reliable communication. Nowadays, a modern security concept is required that structures industrial networks sensibly and logically and reports unwanted events in the network.</p>

<p>Together, we are expanding our collaboration in the areas of sales and marketing, including joint trade fair appearances. From 6 to 8 March, we will be exhibiting together with Porta at MECSPE in Bologna, Italy. This will not only result in greater visibility for both companies, but will also offer new synergies and opportunities for the future.</p>



<p>We look forward to our joint successes and innovations.</p>
