MINTmentoring experience report

Field report by Carina B.

As a career starter, I took part in the 3rd MINT-Mentoring PLUS programme as a mentee. At the start of the project, each mentee set themselves a goal that they wanted to achieve together with their mentor within a year. I was assigned a mentor by the project managers, who accompanied me throughout the duration of the project. We dealt with and discussed various topics in the workshops. We also met regularly, i.e. every month, in a cosy atmosphere to work towards achieving the goal. At these meetings, we worked on tasks or simply talked about situations we had experienced in our day-to-day work.

We worked on various topics in the workshops, such as "Managing operational tasks effectively", "Leading and being led" and "Communication in a team". We were also able to take part in two other workshops that focussed on the topic of "self-marketing". The workshops took place at different companies that were also taking part in the project, which gave us an insight into neighbouring companies in addition to the project. One of the things we learnt at the individual workshops was how important it is to build up a network. For this reason, we mentees meet at regular intervals to exchange ideas. Meetings with the mentors are also planned for the future.

The MINT-Mentoring PLUS project made a big impression on me, as I learnt a lot and developed further with the help of my mentor. Although the project has already ended, I still meet up with my mentor. Not to work on tasks, but to keep in touch and exchange ideas. I am very glad that I took part in this project and would recommend it to young female professionals at any time.
