After more than 6 months of construction, our Bobbycar Solar Cup team was able to present their new speedster at the Bielefeld run&roll City on Sunday. In contrast to its predecessor, it took many hours of work to make it lighter. All that was left of the original ride-on lawnmower was the frame. The students hoped that the new wheel bearings and wheels in particular would save time. Drilling out the heavy front wheel suspension also brought further relief. With Marlon (starting number 5 in the picture) from class 5b, we were able to recruit a driver who fearlessly steered our Bobbycar around the hairpin bends of the track at high speed. After the individual time trials at the beginning, we were still in 4th place. In the subsequent quarter-final race, Marlon missed the start and, after a great race to catch up, steered our vehicle across the finish line in first place. In the semi-final, the ELHA racing team was able to prevail against the competition from Delbrück. In the final, the team from the Bielefeld grammar school was unfortunately a nose ahead. Nevertheless, we are proud to take second place and hope to bring the title back to Hövelhof next year.
